Heb 2 Get up an keep going.

Verses that stood out to me today in Heb 2.
2:1  So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
2:10 God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring mhany children into glory.  And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.
2:11  ...Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father.

....don't wanna drift away
.....God made made everything for Himself
.....He chose the Father child relationship for me
....hmm Jesus was made a perfect leader through suffering
I think I don't wanna be a leader because suffering sucks.
If you've suffered, you're a leader in the making
You and I can lead people to understanding this loving Father child relationship that so many people can't relate to.
....God is my Father, my Dad....he loves me, wants to step in and fix everything for me but instead leads me, hopes I'll make good choices and is there there for me when I don't, then he bends a knee and points me in the right directions again. When I get knocked down, he cheers me on to get back up and keep going.
My pastor shared Ps 37:24 this week.
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. (thats me cuz though I'm in process, He sees me as holy since I continually turn from things that distract me from Him, ask forgiveness and am letting Him change me.)
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
For the Lord holds them by the hand.  NLT
KJV says, Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down

A little info about Angels according to Heb 1

1:4  They are not greater than Jesus
God is the one who named them
Their names are less important than Jesus' name
1:5  They are not children of God
1:6  They were told by God to worship Jesus
1:7  They are sent by God, just like he sends the wind
        They are God's servants
They are referred to as flames of fire
1:13  They don't have the same place of honor as Jesus
1:14  They are only servants
They are sent to care for the people who end up surrendering their lives to Jesus and will be saved.

From other scripture I know angels have many other jobs and even speak, but, the focus is Heb 1 so I guess the point today is to be careful not to consider angels more important that Jesus and to know that angels are not people we once knew, they are seperate beings. My prayer today is that God will send his angels to do their work in and around the lives of those I know who haven't yet surrendered their way to His way.
I plan to read Heb 2 next. Don't expect me to keep up this everyday posting pace, so, do whatever pace fits you.  Please join in and share what comes to mind and we will learn that God is speaking to us not only through scripture but through each other.

What does Heb 1 say about Jesus?

Hebrews chapter 1 says a bunch.
1:2 He spoke to us from God, the Father
       He inherited everything from God
1:2,10 The universe was created through Him by God
1:3  He radiates God's glory
He expresses the exact character of God
       He sustains everything
how? by his words, commands and their power
He cleansed us from our sins   ---notice past tense....it's done....

Gotta pause here cuz it reminds me of a verse Heb 10:14 that is so cool.
It says "For by that one offering, sacrifice (Jesus death)
                                 He (Jesus) FOREVER made perfect
those who (you and me!) are being made (present tense) holy."
This means that God and Jesus are fully aware that we are not perfect yet, but God sees us as perfect while we are still in process. I think that it helps us look ahead after we mess up and never give up resetting our compass toward becoming Christ like.  Any aspect of us that is Christ-like must be showing some of God to those around us since Jesus is the exact representation of Him
He sits next to God in heaven
1:4  He is far greater than angels
       His name is from God
His name is greater than angel's names
1:5  His dad is God
1:6  He has angels worshiping Him cuz God told them too
1:8  He has a throne
       His throne endures forever
1:9  He loves justice
       He hates evil
       He is anointed by God
He was anointed with oil of joy more than anyone else
1:11  He will remain forever
1:12  He is always the same
1:13  His enemies will be humbled by God
His enemies will be put under His feet
As I look through this list, I come to "He sustains everything"; I can't help but think of my heart. One time, while  I was singing a song that says He holds everything together I had my eyes closed and got a picture of a crystal clear 3D heart that was not broken but shattered but had not fallen to pieces like safety glass on the ground, it was suspended whole but had all the lines of being shattered.  To me, it says that though we may go through times we feel like things are falling apart, we can know that He holds us together still.. no matter the reason...he is there when we call to Him.  Today I will just acknowledge...Jesus, your name is great!  Help me to bring honor to your name today and thanks for holding my heart together no matter what caused the shattering. A freind told me that the cracks I saw will just allow more of you to penetrate the depths of my heart. Go for it God, I need you for those empty places!

Hebrews 1 What does it say about God?

A list of what I learned about God from Heb 1
1:1 He speaks to us
      He spoke to the prophets
1:2  He speaks to us through His Son
He promised that Jesus inherited everything
1:3  He uses Jesus to show us his glory
He uses Jesus to show us his character
       He is majestic
His right side is a place of honor
1:4  He named Jesus
       He named the angels
1:5  He calls Jesus his son
He does not call angels his kids
He named himself, Father to Jesus
1:6  He told the angels to worship Jesus
1:7  He directs the angels like he does the wind
He sees the angels as servants not his children
1:8  He calls Jesus, "God"
He tells Jesus that Jesus' throne will endure forever
He tells Jesus that He,Jesus, rules with Justice
1:9  He has annointed Jesus because Jesus loves justice and hates evil
He gave Jesus more joy than anyone
1:10  He calls Jesus Lord
       He acknowledges Jesus as creator
1:11, 12 He says Jesus lives forever and never changes

Hmmmm, now what do I do with that info? How does it apply to my life and yours?  Ya, it may not be new info to me or you so it can be ya ya ya, I know but how can we make it mean something today?  Here's an idea....
   God,
I'm so glad you speak to us! Help me to recognize your voice through what I learn through Jesus since Jesus is the Word and He left the Holy Spirit to remind us of what He said when he went to chill with you in heaven.
I recognize Jesus you are God. Help me to love justice, even when I'm the recipient of your correction. Help me to hate evil and recognize it even if it's from my own mouth it tries to show itself.
So, you were annointed with joy?  Hmm never thought of that, all the movies I've seen you seemed calm and serious. I want to be like you in that way, I want lots of joy and I want to laugh more.  Help me remember the things I read about you in Heb 1 as I go through my day and let me learn to love what you have to say.

If you want homework...make a list of what you learn about Jesus in Heb 1. :)

Hebrews 1 What verses stand out to you on your first read?

The things that stood out to me were....
Heb 1:1 That God speaks to us through Jesus.
Thinking on that further, Jesus is the Word, and God speaks to us through His Word.
Taking that further, Jesus left the Holy Spirit to remind us of all he said.
God speaks to us through, Jesus, the Word and the Holy Spirit.  That we can know for certain.
A couple verses pointed out that Jesus was clearly present during creation.

Please post comments that mention the verses that stood out to you.
